Nashville to London…filming begins
The crew departed Nashville, Tennessee at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2019. After an 8+ hour flight, we arrived at London’s Heathrow airport late in the evening on Monday, July, 8, 2019.
After a couple of days prepping gear and equipment, we headed 127 miles northeast to the Seething Airfield in Seething, Norwich, UK to film at the Seething Control Tower, the airfield where the Battlin’ Baby took off for a bombing mission 75 years ago.
During the war, the airfield control tower controlled and monitored all operational flying aspects of the Bomb Group’s operations including flying controls, signals and weather.
The original RAF Seething Control Tower is now the site of the Seething Control Tower Museum. This airfield was home to the 448th Bomb Group of the United States Air Force and was given the identification Station 146.
The Seething Control Tower Museum is dedicated to the memory of the hundreds of American service personnel, both men and women, who served at this wartime airfield. The museum contains exhibits, photographs, and associated memorabilia over two floors, all connected with the airfield and the 448th Bomb Group. The collection includes personal stories and diaries of the airmen, following their history through the years providing an insight into the part Seething airfield played during World War II.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Pat Everson and James Barber, the former and current curators for welcoming us to the Seething Control Tower Museum, making us feel at home, and especially for sharing their tremendous wealth of knowledge that you will see and hear in the finished product.
